At the helm of the Ministry of Secondary Education since 2 March 2018, Professor NALOVA LYONGA, PhD, placed her action under the concept of CLEAN SCHOOL. This vision is a contribution to improving the quality of education at the physical, moral and intellectual levels. The vision aims at fostering the development of creativity, the sense of initiative and spirit in a civic environment marked by the cultural values of our country. Interested in this concept, the OPEN (Observatory of the Foreign and National Press) Think -Tank, has expressed its willingness to support the Ministry of Secondary Education in this vision. The Association has proven experience in organizing knowledge and innovation competitions and proposes the creation and launching of a competition called the Cameroon Student Challenge Junior (CSCJ).
Designed for students from public, denominational and private secondary schools, the Cameroon Students Challenge Junior whose motto is “Youth has genius!” is a Competition of Knowledge and Innovation which is based on three pillars: academic, civic and cultural. This new and innovative competition’s main goal is the detection, valorization and promotion of brilliant, ingenious and talented students. In addition, it intends to mobilize students of the second cycle on themes and inventions that contribute to the development of the Nation.
Within the framework of the implementation of MINESEC’s agreement in principle on 19 November 2018, an ad hoc committee was set up. Meetings which held at regular intervals have enabled MINESEC and OPEN to discuss practical arrangements for the smooth implementation of this programme in the Ministry of Secondary Education. After discussions on the content of the draft text establishing the CSCJ and on the creation and organization of the organizing committee as well as the launching of the first edition, the two parties agreed on the need to formalize this initiative through a partnership agreement, which should be signed in the days ahead. Already, the OPEN Think-tank is ready for the organization of a test Edition for April 2019 in the Centre Region.
