DEPARTMENT OF TECHNICAL AND TEACHER EDUCATION

 MISSIONS STATEMENTS :


    In the organigramm of 25th April 2005, article 39, chapter 1, the assigned tasks of the department of Technical and Teacher Education are clearly spelled out as follows :

€¢    The administration and control of Government Technical Secondary Education establishments ;

€¢    The administration and control of Government Technical Teachers Training Colleges ;

€¢    The carrying out of studies and formulation of the shortage of personnel, in conjunction with the Inspectorate General of Education and the Department of Human Resources ;

€¢    The follow-up of the records of teachers of schools under it's authority, in conjunction with the department of Human Resources ;

€¢    The study of the lack of teachers, in conjunction with the Inspectorate General of Education and the Department of Human Resources ;

€¢    The follow-up of private Technical schools and Technical Teacher Training colleges.

The DTTE comprises of 09 services, regrouped in four Sub-Departments.

THE SUB-DEPARTMENT FOR GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL EDUCATION
(SD-EPET)


Under the authority of a Sub-Director, the Sub-Department for Government Technical Education is responsible for :

€¢    The administrative management of schools ;
€¢    The follow-up and administrative control of schools ;
€¢    The preparation of postings and transfers ;
€¢    The processing of schools beginning of year and end of year reports ;
€¢    The processing of various files from schools.

    It comprises two services :

-    The Government Technical High School and Vocational Training Service ;
-    The Government Technical College Service.

    Under the authority of a Service Head, the services are responsible for :

€¢    The processing of files of schools;
€¢    The exploitation of principals reports;
€¢    The preparation of postings and transfers of teachers, in conjunction with the Inspectorate General of Education and the Department of Human Resources.

THE SUB-DEPARTMENT OF PRIVATE TECHNICAL AND TEACHER EDUCATION (SD-SEPETN)
I.    €“ MISSIONS

    The Sub-Department of Private Technical and teacher Education is responsible for :

€¢    Partnership with private colleges of this sector;
€¢    The finalisation of files for the creation, opening, upgrading or closing down of private technical schools and teacher training colleges, in conjunction with the Legal Affairs Division and the Department of Financial and Material Resources;
€¢    The preparation of proposals for subventions ;
€¢    The preparation of contracts with private colleges of this sector ;
€¢    The administration of state subventions.


II-    STRUCTURE AND ACTIVITIES

    It comprises 03 services :

€¢    The private Technical Secondary and teacher Education Service is responsible for :
-    The study of applications to create, open or upgrade private technical Schools and teacher Training colleges;

-    The processing of files of corresponding Educational Establishments ;

-    The exploitation of Private schools principals' reports, notably, those of the beginning and end of year;

-    Relations with Education Secretariats.

€¢    The subventions Service assures :

-    The preparation of the situation of state subventions and other sources of funding ;
-    The preparation of contracts with private schools of this sector.

€¢    The Records and statistics  service is responsible for:

-    The analysis of statistics concerning Private Technical Schools and teacher training Colleges ;

-    The processing, exploitation and update of the records of Private technical Schools and Teacher Training Colleges, in conjunction with the computer unit.

THE SUB-DEPARTMENT OF STUDIES AND STATISTICS (SD-ES)

I.     MISSIONS

    The sub-Department of studies and statistics is responsible for :

?    The coordination of studies concerning the lack of Teachers of Technical and Teacher Education ;

?    The centralisation and summary of studies concerning the opening of new Government technical Training Colleges or their upgrading ;

?    The analysing and publishing of statistics of Government Technical Schools and teachers Training Colleges ;

?    The follow-up of the records of staff..

II.    STRUCTURE AND ACTIVITIES

It comprises two services :

The studies service is in charge of:
-    Studies concerning the lack of teachers;
-    Studies concerning the opening of new Government Technical Schools and teachers Training Colleges;
-    Studies concerning the upgrading of Government Technical Colleges.

The records and statistics Service is in charge of :

-    The centralisation, analysis and production of statistics of Government Technical Schools and Teacher Training Colleges, in conjunction with the computer unit and the Division of Projects, Cooperation, Educational planning and counselling;
-    The keeping of records of Government Technical schools and Teachers Training Colleges;
-    The keeping of records of staff.

-    Opening of GTC in 2008 : 32
-    Opening of GTHS In 2008 : 08


THE SUB-DEPARTMENT FOR GOVERNMENT TECHNICAL TEACHER TRAINING COLLEGES 
( SD-GENIET)

MISSIONS

It is globally responsible for :

€¢    The coordination of studies concerning the lack of staff, the functioning, creation and opening of Teacher Training Colleges;

€¢    The summary and exploitation of educational statistics of teacher Education under the Ministry ;

€¢    The compilation of the situation of the teaching and supervisory staff ;

€¢    The follow-up of the posting and transfer of teaching and supervisory staff, in conjunction with the Inspectorate General of Education, the Department of Human Resources and the Deconcentrated services of the ministry.

II.    - STRUCTURES AND ACTIVITIES

It comprises of two services with specific missions :

?    The Technical Teacher Training College Service is responsible for :

-    Studies concerning the lack of teachers ;
-    Studies concerning the opening of new Government Technical Teacher Training Colleges ;
-    Follow-up of the Inter-Provincial transfer of teachers, in conjunction with the Inspectorate General of Education, the Department of Human Resources and the Deconcentrated Services of the Ministry;
-    The keeping of records of schools and technical teacher training colleges;
-    The exploitation of principals' reports.
?    The records and statistics service is reponsible for :
-    The analysis of statistics concerning Technical Teacher Training Colleges ;
-    The keeping, exploitation and up-date of the records of government technical teacher training colleges, in conjunction with the computer unit.

    The SD-GENIET administers and control three training-colleges, situated in SOA, DOUALA, MBENGWI.

    There is a total of 1144 student-teachers for 156 teachers.
